Sir Morien and the Black presence in Medieval Europe (or the real Black Knight)

01-16-14-sir-morien_jpg__800x600_q85_crop

I thought about writing this in celebration of Black History Month after watching the BBC’s “Merlin” series. In the series they cast quite a few Black actors and even cast actress Angel Coulby as Queen Guinevere. This is how Im usually motivated to do my research. Being an autodidactic learner I either see or read something interesting and I go digging to see if I can find an example of it in art, literature or history. I love digging up little known and obscure facts about Black history through out the world so delving into the legend of Sir Morien was a pleasure

We’ve all heard of the “black Knight” of the King Arthur legend but there literally was a “Black” knight in King Arthur’s court. His name was Sir Morien & his tale is recorded in a 13th Century Dutch Manuscript. This tale more than likely existed in oral tradition & older text that no longer survive. There were actually quite a few people of African decent in medieval & ancient Europe. Sir Morien like King Arthur more than likely is a mythical figure based on an amalgamation of historic figures. Sir Morien more than likely was based on the leader of the Roman Theban Legion St. Maurice who himself has elements of legend attached to him.

St. Maurice and Pope (probably Nicholas V)

Sir Morien is described in the text as such:

“He was all black, even as I tell ye: his head, his body, and his hands were all black, saving only his teeth. His shield and his armour were even those of a Moor, and black as a raven…

Had they not heard him call upon God no man had dared face him, deeming that he was the devil or one of his fellows out of hell, for that his steed was so great, and he was taller even than Sir Lancelot, and black withal, as I said afore…

When the Moor heard these words he laughed with heart and mouth (his teeth were white as chalk, otherwise was he altogether black)…”

For a full read I recommend this sight which has the full tale

Another Black  Character in the Arthurian legends is Feirerfiz

Feirefiz is referred to as being a Saracen & his mother is the Moorish Queen Belcane (or Belacane) a Black woman & his father the fictional French King Gahmuret a White man

(for a synopsis of the tale see Percival)

Many early Medieval Europeans may not have understood what children of bi-racial relationships would look like so they discribed Feirefiz as having patchy black & white skin Some also theorize the writers may have been describing a Black person with vitiligo.

Quote:

“Feirefiz is a character in Wolfram von Eschenbach’s Arthurian poem Parzival. He is the half-brother of Parzival, the story’s hero. He is the child of their father Gahmuret’s first marriage to the Moorish queen Belacane (Italian: “lovely meat”), and equals his brother in knightly ability. Because his father was white and his mother black, Feirefiz’s skin consists of black and white patches. His appearance is compared to that of a magpie or a parchment with writing on it, though he is considered very handsome. There exists a skin disease, Vitiligo, which produces such underpigmented patches across the body.”

A Black person in Medieval Europe may seem like an anachronism but Black Africans were more widely known to the North Western European than our mainstream history would have us believe. The fact you have such tales this early in North Western European  history points to the presence of Black people in Western Europe during the medieval period.

The two above examples of medieval art are of Black African knights and noble men,one apparently of a king being crowned.

Its plausible that Black Africans absorbed the North Western feudal culture easily being that in Africa you had a tradition of horseman ship and mounted armored warriors also dating back to West Africa’s  Medieval period

As we see from the above pictures this armored horse riding tradition is still alive today

Archeology also proves Black Africans were present in Europe during the earliest parts of the Medieval period. The remains of a 4th century Black woman were found in Brittan.

Blacks obviously migrated into Southern and North Western Europe throughout history as another ancient skeleton dating circa 3 AD the “Beachy Head Lady” pictured above confirms. Like the remains discovered in York these remains discovered in the    South East England county of East Sussex are of a Sub Saharan female.

Those of use who are familiar with archeology and genetic research understand it was Black Africans who ventured out of Africa reaching Europe and Asia around 60k to 40k years ago as this reconstructed bust tells us.

This skull reconstruction is of the 1st homo sapiens sapiens in Europe dating to about 35k years ago.

As for Black Africans in Europe during the upper Paleolithic I recommend this documentary

So from these examples we see the Black African has long been in Europe prior to the Arab or Trans Atlantic slave trades. There are many more examples of artistic depictions of medieval Black Noble and common folk through out Europe. The below images are from the Medieval period ie: 4th century to 14th century(To the best of my knowledge). I am happy to say there are so many of these pieces of art representing peoples of Black African ancestry in Europe I grew tired of sorting through them & separating the many Renaissance art pieces and those that were made prior to the 15th century. I can only imagine how many more remain hidden or undiscovered.

One Night of Protest -The #Justice4MarioWoods Coalition the “New Civil Rights Movement” and why front line social activist must be honored and saluted

IMG_20151210_092244

I haven’t participated in a real “in the police’s face” protest or rally since my days at SFSU. Recently I joined the Nation of Islam, the New Community Leadership Foundation (www.newclf.com) Hip Hop artist Equipto ,Selassie and scores of other social activist in support of the #Justice4MarioWoods Coalition. We gathered near San Francisco’s Civic Center and marched towards City Hall. On this particular night various members of the NFL players from the two teams participating in the Super Bowl (North Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos) and San Francisco politicians including Mayor Ed Lee were at City Hall and the asian Arts Museum celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl which is being played here in the Bay Area down in Santa Clara at the SF 49er’s Levi stadium. Wisely our coalition is using the attention drawn by the Super Bowl to get our message about the racially motivated injustices that have taken place with in San Francisco( most of all the murder of Mario Woods) out to the world and to force other wise apathetic politicians and police to hold the officers that committed this heinous act accountable.

20160204_203203

Before going to this protest i’d gotten into a debate with a good friend about several people and organizations we know non participation and refusal to stand with the #Justice4MarioWoods movement. At this point these individuals haven’t even made public statements to condemn the police officers actions and their silence is reverberating. My good friend explained to me publicly supporting the #Justice4MarioWoods movement would hurt these people’s financial and employment situations due to the fact these individuals are employed by and or receive quite a bit of money and political support from the city. I admonished my good friend for 1st thinking that by explaining the obvious politically and financially difficult situation our friends would be put in was some how a morally justifiable excuse. Wrong is wrong and even if I love you and understand what’s at risk for you if you make an unrighteous choice, commit an unrighteous action or fail to commit a righteous action when it’s needed I have to call it for what it is.

Am I mad?

No not at all.

Am I just disappointed?

Yes.

The only thing that tempers my disappointment is I really do know and understand what these individuals stand to lose. I use to work for the Department of Public Health. I’ve worked in San Francisco’s juvenile and adult county jail system giving life skills work shops educating at risk populations. I’ve had meetings with various police officers and the current mayor about outreach to the homeless and poor of San Francisco. Ive worked closely with SFPD officers out reaching to the homeless, mentally ill ,drug addicted and otherwise at risk populations of this city. I know some genuinely “good cops” and I do think about their reaction to my support of the #Justice4MarioWoods movement (and in particular our movements position on the firing of Chief Surh.)

In other words what I’m saying is that I understand the fear of jeopardizing ones job or lively hood one can feel when having to speak truth to the power that pays you. Actually what prompted me to really write this was the fact I saw many officers I knew and had seen around in my field of work and the looks they gave me caused a slight pang of worry about my own civil service career(and  to keep it as we say “One Hunid” my physical well-being) Would these officers, the Mayor or his aides retaliate by endangering my current job? I thought about this and for me the choice was easy…I stand for whats right. I remain true to myself and my people and will do what I can to correct the injustice of not only Mario Woods death but of all the inequities that exist with in this society.  I also recognize I have a lot less to lose than some of the organizations and people I’m alluding to and I do understand these people’s positions are precarious. Some of these leaders have not spoken in concerns of the Mario Woods case and at least some have reached out to the #J4MWC and given their reasons for not supporting the #Justice4MarioWoods movement and I can only hope we can strategize in other areas in our over all battle with the systemic injustice ingrained in our society.  Other so-called leaders actually seem to be attempting to weaken and derail our movement. They do so by acting as if they are the communities chosen representatives and are speaking  the will of the people for the good of the people. The truth is that some are detached from today’s social struggle and promote out dated tactics. Others are duplicitous and are only playing the part of social activist while coddling to the powers that be. (ill write on this dynamic in more depth later)

20160204_192355

Ive long stated to those I work with I will always do what i can for the movement. I may not be able to participate in rallies and marches on a consistent basis but  when I can I will do something in support of the movement. This goes back to some of my good and dear friends decisions to sit this fight out or some of their “on the fence” positions.  As Arch Bishop King of the Saint John Coltrane African Orthodox Church stated “you might not be able to carry a picket sign but man you can fold envelopes and lick stamps or something”  What Arch Bishop King is saying here is that we with in the movement understand some of us are not in a position to push a hard publicly radical  stance but one should always speak truth to power and do what ever small part you can. This is not just a matter of participating in marches but some of our good friends and allies in other causes have even remained silent on making a public statement of condemnation of the SFPD’s actions in this case. Last night the pangs of worry I felt concerning my chicken shyt job made me realize how courageous and brave our frontline soldiers are.

They are fearless!!!

It’s no small thing to stand up to a brutal and vicious police force in a city that regards you as an anathema. This is no small movement and I’m amazed at our solidarity, commitment and passion. The fact is that we are up against serious and powerful opposition. Hostile and unscrupulous opposition. Due to this fact I am even more impressed and proud of those who have been fighting this epic and historic fight since day one. Yes this is history we are making.  #Justice4MarioWoods is justice for #MichealBrown #AlexNieto  #SandraBland #TrayvonMartin #KennethHarding #SeanBell #TamirRice #OscarGrant #EricGarner #TanishaAnderson and far to many more. Mario is our martyr our catalyst our rallying point for our pursuit for justice and reparations for all this countries acts of atrocity and miscarriages of justice. We are going through a struggle that mirrors Biblical scripture. I am indeed a spiritual person and I feel our work is divinely guided. History will look back at this and our people’s struggle on a whole the same way we open up the book of Exodus and marvel at the works of Moses. To those leaders who are of and loved by our community that have not committed to supporting this movement or others of its like or simply speaking out against police terrorism I ask this simple question… “don’t you realize this is a 2nd Civil Rights Movement ? “Dont you realize your silence is heard by those who expect more from you?”  ” Dont you know your support if only words of encouragement are needed?” We all are obligated to do our small part in this struggle for social justice…ignoring such obligations do not make them disappear.

The Afro/Euro-Centric Ancient Egypt Debate ( The Hugh Cipher guide to accurate world history pt 2-A precise and logical argument)

Ancient Egyptians were aware of the differences between the peoples that surrounded them. Here we see a Libyan and Hysko

Ancient Egyptians were aware of the differences between the people’s that surrounded them. Here we see a Libyan and Hysko “white skinned” and a Nubian and an Egyptian. Even in this reconstruction the Egyptian and Nubian look like a dark and brown skinned Afro American type.

I’ve intended to write about this subject for ages. One reason I haven’t as of yet is because I wished to do so as concisely as possible but also  attempt to proactively address any possible arguments.

-Far easier said than done

This is also a response to the numerous Euro centric and Arab centric deniers of Egypt’s Black African roots.  The majority of Egypt’s population has looked like Arab/Semitic peoples for so long that it is easy to simply imagine them as having looked this way for the past 5k to 6k years. Most modern Egyptians are descendants of Arab invaders who conquered what was left of a dying Egyptian civilization in around 700 A.D.

I am of course a proponent of the Black African origins of Egypt but I well concede that the argument isn’t quite as black and white as it seems -pun intended.

Egypt in many ways was like todays America. A country with many immigrants but where America has a majority of Caucasian people Egypt for most of its history as a true Egyptian culture had a majority of Africoid people.

I recognize that Egypt having had lasted for 4k years makes it hard for the average person to wrap their head around the concept that in such a long period of time populations change. There is a country called Kazakhstan where many of the modern day inhabitants look Mongoloid although the ancient Scythians who occupied that area in the B.C. period  resembled Keltic tribes people. Todays inhabitants of Kazakhstan are largely inpart descendants of the medieval Mongol conquerors.

http://e-history.kz/en/contents/view/490

DNA test on modern Kazakhstani peoples show that common Eurasian y-dna haplogroups A,B,C,D,F,G,H and M are present & that maternal lineages have connections to mongoloid Amerindian haplogroups. We see here in the Kazakhstani a people who look Mongoloid & Caucasoid just as their dna illustrates. The ancient Scythian blood line still is an undercurrent but the more recent Mongoloid amalgamation is phenotypically dominate in a high percentage of the population . In many ways they mirror ancient Egypts phenotypical transfer from an Africoid peoples to a blended Eurasian type

When looking at contemporary descriptions of Egyptians and current dna analysis, this process of amalgamation and displacement clearly took place in Egypt making it more “Semitic” or say Eurasian

Archeological evidence shows that Egypt very early on in its history took on Eurasian elements due to migration and later invasion and conquest.

*The fall of the Byzantine Fortress of Babylon in 641 CE allowed invading Arab armies to move beyond the Lower Nile region of Egypt

So any slightly intelligent critical thinker would deduce all of these Eurasian invaders and migrants left their dna and physical mark on the Egyptian population.

So my argument is this

Egypt began as a Black African civilization that over it’s 4000 year history took on Eurasian elements and eventually amalgamated and or displaced the original Black African population

This is why when any one who honestly looks at Egyptian art and artifacts must admit they see a variety of physical traits or phenotypes that range from Black African to Eurasian and all combinations thereof in-between

So again my argument is not that ALL ancient Egyptians were Black Africans rather that the original founders were Black Africans and much of the population primarily remained so until late in Egyptian history.

The latest dna test that actually tested ancient Egyptian mummies show the Amarna royal mummies to have had a far higher % of genetic links to “Black Africa” than peoples of Eurasia or the Levant

This is the latest DNA evidence-peer reviewed and academically sound-Not a hoax such as the iGenea test that didn’t even bother to actually test Egyptian mummies.

iGenea King Tut DNA Hoax

iGenea blatantly published doctored DNA results that claim Tutankhamun belongs to the haplogroup R1b1a2, which more than 50% of all men in Western Europe belong to.

When looking at pre dynastic evidence we see that a Black advanced culture that lived in the area of the Libyan Sahara when the Sahara was fertile practiced artificial mummification. This was 1000 years or so before the earliest evidence of artificial  mummification is known to have taken place in Egypt

The mummy was originally discovered in the 1950’s but was relegated to storage until a recent documentary. As many researchers for true African history know Europeans have long denied or simply hidden discoveries like this.

When comparing predynastic art and artifacts with rock painting & carvings in the Sahara you can see what possibly will evolve into the Kemetic or say Egyptian art style.

SaharanPreDynasticMethkhendoush-two-cats2SaharanArt72ee89b3bbd9ffdd93473189169124c9

In 2008   National Geographic/S. O. Y. Keita stated:

“…The major features of cultural and political development that led to dynastic Egypt originated in southern Egypt during what is called the predynastic period. Some evidence suggests that predynastic Egyptian and early Nubian cultures had ties to the early Saharan cultures and shared a Saharo-Nilotic heritage. Perhaps the earliest predynastic culture, the Badarian-Tasian* (4400 B.C. or earlier, to 4000 B.C.), had the clearest ties to Saharan cultures in the desert west of Nubia. The subsequent development, known as Naqada culture (3900 to around 3050 B.C.) by numerous scholars, had three phases and led directly to the 1st dynasty in southern Egypt without a break or evidence of foreign domination. It had three major centers in Upper Egypt, the small kingdoms of Naqada, Hierakonpolis, and Abydos, which came to be a much revered place in Egypt. The cemetery grounds of Abydos contain the largest tomb of a predynastic ruler, along with the burials of all the kings of the 1st dynasty. Naqada culture expanded north in its later phases, culturally incorporating northern Egypt before the 1st dynasty. There is also evidence at some sites—including Hierakonpolis, where the famous Narmer Palette was found—for interactions with Nubian societies, specifically one called the A-Group, whose kings shared some insignia with Egypt. By the time the 1st dynasty began, Egypt and Nubia were rivals; Egypt defeated the A-Group state and incorporated its territory, which became a part of the first province of Upper Egypt.”

The earliest evidence of a Monarchy anywhere in the world is found in Nubia. This dates to several generations prior to any evidence in predynastic Egypt or Sumer

This is a clip from an article from the New York times dating from the 1970’s. Something like this should have long been in text books but Eurocentric bias & indifference shadows discoveries like this.

Eurocentrics like to stereo type Black peoples into one physical or phenotype but the truth is that Black Africans are thee most genetically diverse thus thee most pheno-typically diverse people in the world.

Euro-centrics routinely present Egypt as being more “Caucasoid” The computer reconstruction of King Tut is but one example.

This is the European-ized computer reconstruction of Tut

This is the 2005 European-ized computer reconstruction of Tut

This is the more African, more accurate computer reconstruction made of King Tut

The earlier “African” reconstruction can be seen at London England’s Science Museum’s web site- http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/antenna/tutankhamun/index.asp

It is said the famous (or infamous depending whats your take) Zahi Hawass balked at the earlier reconstruction & currently the Eurocentric reconstruction of Tut is the most widely known & is the easiest to access via web searches. The older reconstruction appears to be buried. This is the usual unintentional & in many cases fully intentional hiding of non biased research dealing with Africa.

You can compare both reconstructions to the Tutankhamen gold mask and judge which fits the mask’s rendition of Tut better. Also remember Tutankhamen was a member of the Amarna royal family thus genetically has been proven to be far more African than Eurasian

The falsification has muddled the truth horribly

As an Afro American I easily see the phenotypes of both Caucasian and African types in Egyptian art. We African Americans are also a highly mixed people averaging 24 to 30% European dna and 8 to 10% American Indian (mongoloid) dna

http://www.cell.com/ajhg/fulltext/S0002-9297(14)00476-5

Thus we have an unique eye for Black and White peoples of all types and mixtures. Also Europeans tend to refer to even a bi racial person as Black but if the same phenotype is seen in ancient art its declared Eurasian. This double standard is absurd.

( If Beyoncé lived during pharaonic times she would be declared Eurasian by Euro centrics.)

Today Black women still wear weaves and braided wigs-This type of wig and hairstyle is not a part of the long straight haired Eurasian culture

In ending the latest modern DNA test confirm the African origins of Egypt

The contemporary writings of Herodotus, Diodorus and more confirm the Blackness the African ness of ancient Egypt

I can only hope Eurocentric’s will eventually take their blinders off and recognize facts

I will say the same for extreme Afro centrics who totally deny any Eurasian contribution to ancient Egypt.

I consider my self “world” centric because only by looking at history from all possible angles can you ascertain truth and truth speaks for itself

I push for truth and greater knowledge and my primary goal is for my fellow African people to see the truth without being mislead by European racist dogma.

I claim the Kemti-Nubian cultural legacy the same way a man from England might claim the Greco-Roman cultural legacy.

A secondary goal of mine is for all people to recognize and acknowledge the greatness of the people from who all of humanity springs from. I’d like to point out most people who argue against a Black African genesis of Egypt do not believe in the out of Africa origins of mankind

The Black Shang Theory….Explained

ding_2shangshang

One of the 1st  theories I came across when I began studying Afro centric history was the Black origins of Chinese civilization or commonly known as the “Black Shang Theory”. What I have discovered is that this theory is in error due to the context it is usually delivered and taken in. The Theory states that the Shang Dynasty which was a pre imperial dynasty located near the Yellow rivers valley was of “Black” African origins. It is commonly agreed the Shang developed much of the  roots of what would become dynastic China. This theory was developed before genetic testing so many claims could not be verified or debunked. Artifacts and skelatal remains of the Shang depicted a “non” mongoloid peoples.  This lead to the remains being labeled “proto-mongoloid” by  western anthropologist.  The truth is that the Shang were a non mongoloid peoples being related to Melanesians and Polynesians. Here is where the “Black” Shang theory more than likely developed.  Melanesians look like Black Africans and Polynesians are dark skinned peoples also. With the advancement of genetics we have discovered although Melanesians and other dark skinned people may look like Africans outwardly they are Asians & Austaloids genetically. I believe when early Shang  artifacts were discovered their  “Black” appearance lead to them being labeled as a Black African peoples by Afro centrics. Euro centrics created and applied the ambiguous term “proto-mongoloid” to the Shang. (Creating obscure terms is a practice Euro centrics have long done when they wished to deny an African presence or possible African presence in a civilization or culture. The early 20th century Euro centric anthropologist Giuseppe Sergi coined the term “Mediterraneanoid” and classified Nubians, Ancient Egyptians and Ethiopians as such. As for the Shang what we actually have here is the evidence of Melanesians and Polynesians building a high civilization. As an African American who has knowledge of self I know how it feels to have another people claim your creation of a civilization, your  accomplishments and or simply deny your contributions to history. This being the case I feel it is just as wrong for Afro centrics to claim the Shang as Black African as it is for Euro centrics to claim the Shang to be some obscure “proto-mongoloid” peoples. The Shang were a Melanoid(Melanesian)and Polynesian peoples. Below I explain my theory on how much of this transpired in the ancient region of the Yellow River valley

As man left out of Africa he developed new haplo groups but kept a similar phenotype(dark skin, lower jaw prothagnism, full lips, wide nose).

Man changed slightly and you can look at Australian Aborigines and Africans and see that slight difference. If humans originally had straight or slightly curled hair like Aborigines and developed woolly hair later in Africa or if Aborigines developed straight and slightly curly hair later is not known. When humans first reached Asia they undoubtedly looked similar to the Africoid but more than likely would be genetically classified as Australoid or Austronesian. Proof of an Australoid people in Asia has been verified by archaeological artifacts and modern Indian dna. The evidence of Australoid dna in South East Asia is visible in the darker complexions of Vietnamese,Thai,Taiwanese,Cambodian and other South East Asians Linguistics& DNA also points to Australoid dna in South East Asia and Austronesian dna in East Asia.

The Australoid migrated as far as Japan and parts of Russia (the Ainu people who have Asian admixture and may also have Caucasian admixture)

Id like to state that  research on my part does point to mongoloid peoples having occupied the Yellow river area before the Shang but their culture was more primitive and Shang possessed Chariot technology which more than likely enabled them to conquer the inhabitants they encountered.
It also does appear  from the artifacts the Shang did have epicanthic folds or (Asian eyes). The noses and lips do seem Africoid or say Australoid.
The Han type Asian is a product of Ice Age climatic changes. Asians simply did not spend as long in Ice Age conditions as Caucasoids so they didn’t develop long noses to warm up air but they did develop smaller noses with smaller nostrils and they have lower jaw  regression (negative prothagnism )but not as much as Caucasians. Another ice age hominid Neanderthal has extreme lower jaw  regression (negative prothagnism ) to the extent many regard Neanderthal skulls as “chinless’ –

In the image below are Neanderthal skulls (top) compared to modern Caucasian skulls (bottom)

It is theorized that along with the dark ice age conditions skin grew pale due to the invention of farming. By eating farmed crops as a basis for diet humans took vitamin D out of their diet. Cereal crops have no vitamin D. Meat has some and Fish has a lot and these two were the primary sources of food for hunter gatherers. Once humans began farming in Northern climates this eliminated the Vitamin D from their diet and humans needed to process more via sunlight. Han type Chinese are almost as pale as Europeans. Again both are products of ice age climate change and adapting to living far North of the Equator were sunlight is minimized. The Han type haplo group is primarily the ydna haplo group O. This haplo group developed in Central Eurasia and migrated into Northern Asia developing along Siberia and  outwards into East Asia.
The National Geographic project’s “My genetic Journey “quotes:
“By the time haplogroup O ancestors arrived in China and East Asia, the last ice age was near its peak. Encroaching ice sheets and central Asia’s enormous mountain ranges effectively corralled them in East Asia, and there they evolved in isolation over the millennia”  http://www.viethoc.org/temp/
This may be a reason Asians almost ubiquitously have epicanthic eye folds among other traits that are rare in other human populations.

Haplo group O is descendant from a population that reached Asia about 35k years ago. There was already a population there that reached east Asia via a different route about 50k years ago. This is 47k years before the Shang  and this population seems to have been absorbed by the population that came 15k years later. The Shang civilizations artifacts and structures appear to be laid smack on top of earlier, mongoloid peoples settlements as if they came as conquers. The Shang population more than likely had not changed in phenotype because this group although in Asia during the ice age occupied an area free of glaciation(presumably on or near the east Asian coast) and still obtained large enough quantities of vitamin D for proper human body function so they had no need to develop lighter skin. Vitamin D keeps bones strong and helps women regulate folic acid crucial in child birth. Women could die with out the proper amount of vitamin D giving birth and children can be still born. This is one theory as to why humans developed lighter skin during the dark ice age conditions

The Australoids in China just as the ones in India to the south developed early civilization or say proto-civilization before contact with the Han type. I say this because during this period the Han would have been living a Nomadic life style migrating throughout Asia before finally settling in the Yellow river area. Seeing that Australoids were the creators of the Indus Valley civilization(their text even speak of yogic positions and possibly are the roots to modern Hinduism) It is safe to assume they did the same in the Yellow river area. (were you have a water source, domestic animals and crops all rudiments of civilization.) Prehistoric Asia was the most hospitable environment for Neolithic man. Domestic animals and domestic grass/grains are indigenous to Eurasia/Middle East and spread to North Africa and other areas as humans migrated. Other Australoids live on Islands and continents with no domestic crops or animals, or the few native domestic crops they do farm are low in nutrition and require far more work to cultivate than wheat, barley, sorghum and other grass crops. With out a water source or domestic animals and crops civilization will not arise independently. This is why Island culture is tribal and even on continents like Australia the absence of domestic animals and crops halt the development of high civilization. Domestic crops allow a few farmers to feed a large population easily. This frees up people with in a population to become specialist such as architects, priest, scribes, astrologers and so on. With out domestication of animals and crops the majority of a population would have to spend the majority of time hunting and gathering. No time for some one to focus on developing a  script or alphabet or to plan out the construction of a temple or pyramid.
Thus the statement the original Chinese were Black or African  is only partially true. All mankind began in Africa and when man arrived in the area of China he was still dark skinned.  The Black Shang theory only speaks to the ruling dynasty that from archeology seem to be a conquering culture that came into the Yellow river valley area from near by. So as stated the Australoids and or Austronesian type was in East Asia at least 15k years before the group that would become the Han type Chinese arrived. One also must understand the Shang dynasty did not arise until 1675 BCE. This is more than 8000 years after the ice age ended and over 40k years after the 1st humans reached Asia. I plan to dig further on this theory but as it stands now the most concise non Euro, Afro or Chinese centric source ive found is from Plos Genetics Skeletal and dna studies that state there were two Shang dynasties, one Melanoid(as in Melanesian) and one of seemingly Polynesian stock. From what I gather this is the only source that sites actual study of Shang skeletal remains & not the Jaihu who occupied the area before them. http://www.plosgenetics.org/annotation/listThread.action;jsessionid=2D0CE411277C5035176581703A91AFF2?root=7003
